Event: El Ranchito Finland

El Ranchito Finland

Friday, 10 October at 5–9 pm
Gallery Augusta, Suomenlinna
Helsinki

el_ranchito_finlandThe event presents the public exhibition of the results of the El Ranchito residency in Helsinki. The event takes place in Gallery Augusta in Suomenlinna, the same place where the creators have been working in for the last six weeks. Food and drinks will be provided.

Encouraging dialogue between artists, architects, curators, thinkers, and other creatives, El Ranchito is a residency programme that brings together a cross-disciplinary group of creators. Together they investigate the questions pertinent to creative processes today. Last spring the artists spent six weeks at Matadero Madrid. El Ranchito Madrid was a part of ARCOmadrid #FocusFinland collateral programme.

Participants:

elii is an architecture office operating in multiple fields of activity, both in Spain and abroad. Espada y Monleón are artists and gourmets who have been working together on edible projects for three years. Kiko Pérez works in painting and sculpture, giving special attention to the notion of object. María Salgado is poet who works with language as the material of texts, audiotexts and performances.

As in the residency at Matadero Madrid, at HIAP the Spanish creators have been working together with Finnish artists Essi Kausalainen, Mikko Kuorinki, Jaakko Pallasvuo and Nestori Syrjälä.

El Ranchito Finland is curated by Manuela Villa (Matadero) in collaboration with Taru Elfving (Frame).

El Ranchito Finland is co-produced by Matadero Madrid, AECID, Ibero-American Institute of Finland, Embassy of Finland, Madrid, Helsinki International Artist Programme and Frame Visual Art Finland. The programme is organised in collaboration with ARCOMadrid and Alfred Kordelin Foundation.
