Valokuvataiteilija Jorma Puranen on voittanut kansainvälisen Higashikawa-palkinnon ”Overseas Photographer Award” -kategoriassa. Voittajien näyttely järjestetään Higashikawassa Japanissa 9. elokuuta–3. syyskuuta 2014.
Palkintoa perusteltiin seuraavasti: ”Puranen presents photographic effects with a critical viewpoint, making them metaphors for the history and memory contained in the paintings and photographs he appropriates. We are pleased to be able to offer the Overseas Photographer Award to a photographer who produces photographs filled with such great beauty and profound meaning.”
Higashikawa-palkinnon tarkoitus on kannustaa ja kehittää valokuvauskulttuuria. Palkinto on jaettu vuodesta 1985 lähtien.
